Often that frozen image thing in Avid has to do with graphics drivers, but that should have survived cloning to the USB drive.
Is the USB drive formatted HFS+ ?
I regularly run Media Composer from a USB3 connected external boot drive but haven't tried 2020.12. Might it be your OS? I'm on 10.14.6.With Best Wishes, Roger Shufflebottom +44 7973 543 660On Thursday, 31 December 2020, 20:25:40 GMT, Jef Huey <jlhueyc2@gmail.com> wrote:Hello all. I did not want to disturb my working system, so we cloned the boot drive to an external USB3 drive and are booting from that.
We have 2020.12 installed, brand new user with no adjustments yet and things are ......... well, pretty bad. Basically not at all usable.
Load an ProRes clip in Source window, hit play and the what ever image was first seen is frozen. And stuck there. Clear monitor does nothing. Same on the Record side.
I fired up Premiere and After Effects. They work as normal.
So, first question. Is it possible that I can not use an external boot drive to have a play with Avid? Does no one in Beta testing work this way?
Should I uninstall Avid and do a deep clean to get all Avid files off? We uninstalled 2018.12.13 before this install.
