Re: [Avid-L2] MC/Big Sur Qualification

I'm not blaming Avid. I recognize that Apple can be a giant pain in the ass.

And while I have been a loyal and committed MacHead for decades now, I have to confess to considering, on more than one occasion, whether or not I should make the switch to PC for all of my editorial work.

The big problem is that Apple has no problem making major revisions under the hood that make 3rd party software vendors sometimes have to do a lot of work to get their software to work correctly. And Media Composer is a complex piece of software. When you start up and you see all those messages flashing on the bottom of the startup screen, those are individual software packages loading. You might see it as one piece of software, yet it's a complex interconnection of lots of software packages. Change one thing in one package and it can break something in another package.

Before you blame Avid, ask yourself why we never have these problems on the Windows side.
