Re: [Avid-L2] Console Command for AvidPhoneticindexer?

Quit Media Composer and kill PI in Activity Monitor. You should be good to go. Fixed in 2020.4.

Thank you very much Roger! I tried that and I'm not sure what changed. The Activity Monitor still says that the Phonetic Indexer is using 3.11 GB. But I am out of the red and back in the green.

Good question. I just do a search (Ctrl or Cmnd+F), hit the gear wheel and stop indexing. On a Mac (2019 or 2018) the PI kept running after quitting but it seems to be fixed in 2020.4.

Hi All,

Is there a command that shuts off the Avid Phonetic indexer?

(I tried force quitting the app in the Activity Monitor but it just restarts itself.)

I am working on a rather large project on a 2014 Mac Laptop with 16 gigs and am constantly banging up against memory limitations. It would be great to liberate whatever the indexer is using. I just need to make it through a few more days.

I am on 2018.12.3 on Mac OS 10.13.6.

Thanks!

Dan
