Yes after I deleted the Cacheclip folder contents the first 7 minutes were offline.  Which is just how far I had viewed at that point.  Then when I deleted all renders all the first 7 minutes appeared again.  I guess because I first manually deleted the CacheClip contents the sequence still pointed to the cached clip media.  I'm assuming when I clicked delete all renders it woke the sequence up to look back at the actual source media.  At least that's how it acted.

As pointed out in this thread in the media tab of the preferences the top volume listed is where gallery stills and some other small stuff go and it's suggested that be something permanently mounted to the system.  Then there is a choice of where project backups are saved elsewhere in the program.  So what exactly determines the location of the cacheclip media and is that different than rendered media.  I'm just not versed in the terminology or media architecture of Resolve.

To answer the trim question.  Once I have shut of smart cache and deleted all renders things aren't filling up.  So I don't think it's a trim issue.

I just found the clip cache in users/admin/documents/cacheclip and it was big.  I deleted it then I went back to the project and unchecked use optimized media if available.  Then some of my imf sequence said it was offline.  Then I found in the same Playback Tool Menu Delete Render Cache so I deleted all then everything came back on line.  I guess because I manually deleted files in the cacheclip the project got confused.  I suppose in the future I leave the smart cache off unless I need it.  Am I correct that delete renders was the function I was not doing and also that it was because I turned on smart cache that this folder got big?  I know this is more a Resolve thing but many of you have way more Resolve stick time than I do.
