Re: [Avid-L2] VideoGuys MC subscription renewal vs support renewal?

John,

Just to expand on Marianna's comment:

A "subscription renewal" gives you 1 year of Avid licenses, updated with the latest releases.  After that 1 year your Avid stops running if you stop paying.

A "support renewal" of a perpetual license gives you 1 year in which you can update with the latest releases. After that 1 year, your Avid continues to run forever with its latest-installed release, even if you stop paying.

I'm in the same boat as you. Just FYI, I'm still running MC 7.0.4 from 2014, even though I've continued to buy support for my 5 dongles.  "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

No it is not the same.   A subscription renewal is just that – renewing your subscription if you have one for another year.  Correct me if I am wrong John but you have all perpetuals.

Videoguys.com has the best price for Perpetual renewals.

Subject: VideoGuys MC subscription renewal vs support renewal?

CAUTION: External Email.

I see VideoGuys has Avid subscription renewals for 239.  The page also lists perpetual EDU licenses.  What about my three perpetual licenses, two dongle and one software?  My renewals have always been support renewals but is a subscription renewal the same thing?  My gut says it's not given the push to get people to move to the subscription model.

I'm too use to the ease of moving the dongle and skipping deactivation on new start up drives and value that.  What is the best price buy for renewing support these days?  All my licenses are active.
