Re: [Avid-L2] Mac local storage for Avid media recommendations

The code is already there. When a shared storage emulates the Avid File System (mimiq, terrablock, EditShare, etc) MC automatically switches to shared storage mode. MC and not the server does all the bin locking, media folder renaming, project settings, etc and not the storage server.

What would be great is if they added a little bit of code so that when MC worked with any storage that it would name the media folders the same way it does on unity/isis/nexus

Avid MediaFiles/MXF/{computer name}.#

Because if you use a simple shared volume it just uses 1, 2, 3, 4, etc and every MC system that connects to it wants to rebuild the database.

But then you would see all the nexus sales evaporate.

Pardon my ignorance but: Should not at least MC be able to tell the difference in order to properly handle the whole idea of shared storage?

The OS won't know the difference between an iSCSI network drive and a local drive.
