Re: [Avid-L2] Continuing Quest to output Dolby Vision over HDMI from Resolve 15.4 using Avid DNxIO?

Pick up an Aja Hi5+ (or 4k+).  attach the usb cable to your system,  load the config software,  and then you can turn the HDR metadata on and off for HDMI.  Has to be the + model.

So tonight I got into the Resolve Color management page and turned on Davinci YRGB Colro Managed.  This now allows me to set an output color space of ST2084 300 nits.  Now without using any LUTs the output feed by HDMI to my 2016 LG OLED is all milky like I would expect an HDR signal to look on an SDR monitor.

Here is more from the Resolve manual:

To master with Dolby Vision in DaVinci Resolve using the built-in software CMU, you still need a more specific hardware setup than the average grading and finishing workstation, consisting of the following equipment:

Your DaVinci Resolve grading workstation, outputting via either a DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G or an UltraStudio 4K Extreme video interface

Mastering Monitor capable of outputting Dolby Vision levels suitable for the deliverable you're required to produce

NOTE: At the time of this writing, the software version of the CMU in DaVinci Resolve can only output a single standard through a single HD-SDI output of your connected video I/O device. For simultaneous display and trimming of HDR and SDR on separate displays, you'll need a hardware CMU.

So I'm wondering could using an HDMI 1.4 cable stop this from working.  As far as I know the Avid DNxIO has HDMI 2.0 but could it be that only the listed BM I/Os work?  "outputting via either a DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G or an UltraStudio 4K Extreme video interface"  I've always thought the DNxIO is an UltraStudio 4K but maybe that's not extreme enough.  I've emailed Black Magic to find out if the Avid DNxIO can do this in theory.  Oh the fun.
