The operating system doesn't get involved. The NLE passes pixels directly to the Blackmagic driver, which hands them off to whichever Blackmagic card you are using. This is true for any output of the capture card. The only Blackmagic thing where it wouldn't be true is their eGPU, because that's a GPU rather than a capture card.

Well, I think so (altho' I'm using HDMI rather than SDI). I feed a monitor with input set to 709 and things look right (that's not very technical, I know). Images from Resolve and Avid look close (not got a monitor calibrator).
