Doing a (lots of poor quality) archive doc in UHD, with UHD and HD deliverables.
As an aside - I've been confirming my sub UHD (ie all of it) archive in a 25iHD project and doing a DNX185X mixdown (field issues aplenty if I try and deal with it in UHD. That works well.
Now I'm close to finishing the UHD master timeline I'm starting to look at HD downcoverting. The captions were made in after effects with Helvetica Light and Eurostile Regular, are a reasonable size, but look a little soft and 'fieldsy' (not aliasing but I see the line structure) when the XAVC 480 export is linked into an HD25i project.
They don't look as bad as when I open the UHD timeline direct in the HD25i project (plus the subcaps do NOT translate well at all).
Are there frameflex settings I should adjust (scaling algorithms)? I'm going to try setting UHD link as 'progressive ' so no time warp is added, but I don't think that'll make a difference. Also going to try a 25P HD project - see if that's better.
Or is this just what happens when you downconvert ? Guess I'll have to remake the supers in HD if that's the case. Or remake the UHD ones in a bolder font.
Thanks for any help
