No I haven't tried the media cache settings. I've never touched them before. I'll take a look and see. I assume that is somewhere in the media creations settings. Interesting I've never heard of that setting in Avid.

ProRes is a more demanding codec than DNx because its variable bitrate as opposed to constant bitrate. So it would appear it could just be processor speed MC is all about raw clock speeds. GPU isn't much help and as long as the drive speed isn't an issue which it doesn't appear to be you should be good.
Have tried experimenting with the media cache settings?
