If you're looking at the footage inside media composer - like on the editing monitor, Avid only shows half the picture - either field 1 or 2, but not both. You need an external broadcast monitor and proper I/O device to see both fields while playing. Super annoying if you're re-cutting existing material with edits in it already - you'll often get unintended flash fields that only show up in the output.
