Yes that's what we get from the field but I'm exporting the DPX directly from Avid to the Delivery Drive. This avoids a lengthy copy after export. Apparently there is a piece of software, or maybe several that the network has suggested that will give them the necessary checksum data. The problem is not with my dpx files but the way they get fed the data over the internet requires a md5 check sum that they can compare on their end to confirm the internet transfer is correct.
I still don't know if they want an md5 checksum value for each dpx file or if it's for the whole folder, which seems to be called a directory and or directory with subdirectories. Given the number of files in the dpx folder this seems like it would generate a zillion hash codes. I assume there is a standard syntax to these codes that makes it possible to parse the data. I look at the character strings of the commands and just roll my eyes.
It's been too long since I worked with Fortran 4 at Berkeley to remember the command line stuff. I'm sure it's child's play for some but not to me coming out of the Tar Pit.

I think that apps like Silverstack and Yoyotta will do drive to drive file transfers with MD5.

Given we export directly to Avid to the delivery drive to avoid additional time consuming copying is it possible to take our resulting file and do an MD-5 checksum on the DPX folder? I found that there is a terminal command to get the MD-5 hash code for a file but DPX is a folder of files. Would we run the terminal command listed in the link below on the folder containing the DPX files?John Moore Barking Trout Productions Studio City, CA bigfish@...
