Re: [Avid-L2] Avid Link using 170% CPU?

Actually the 12 Cores have two threads, I hope that is correct nomenclature, so there are 24 virtual cores.  This means there is the potential of 2,400% CPU Usage.  I often see transcode server or media composer run around 2,000% and more when transcoding and sometimes rendering.

It is confusing and non intuitive at first but then compared to Titler+ it's a simple concept as is herding cats, ending world hunger and an end to climate change.  All are easier the Titler+.  ;-)

I really don't know, and I'm probably repeating something that was made up by someone who doesn't know either, but I thought it was something like; if you have a 6-core system you have the potential of 600%.  So on a 12-core system that has a potential of 1200% if the CPU usage is 170% then they are using about 14% of the systems potential CPU.  ??  Maybe??

The whole definition of percent is 1/100 of the original. IOW, 100% means "all there is"

On my home system MacPro MId 2012 12 core 2.66GHZ 64GB ram GTX-680 Mac OS 10.12.6 MC 2018.12.1 the activity monitor shows Avid Link using 170% CPU.  That seems awful high.  My similar work system with 24GB ram on a mid 2010 MacPro upgraded to 12 Core 3.33GHz Radeon 5770 GPU doesn't show that much CPU for Avid Link.  It's showing this while I'm background traqnscoding.  Seems like it could be sucking up way more CPU than I think it should.

What's Avid link doing to use that much CPU?
