Thanks for the info. It seems like this latest version of Avid Link looks different when I click products. All I saw before was activate. I hadn't realized it was necessary to highlight the actual product. Glad to know it's in the guide.
I did a google search but only came up with app manager techniques. Also searching the Avid help for "dongle" yields no results. Searching Avid Help for Avid link yields link settings etc... but nothing to do with Avid Link. License and Activate does show application manager. Update doesn't show Avid Link or App manager and Blast yields nothing to do with avid link or app manager.
Perhaps adding this info to the help would eliminate some confusion for users. I of course reserve the right to always be confused. ;-)

Yes and that is listed in Avid Link documentation. http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/User_Guide/Avid-Link-Documentation
Activation with a Dongle
To activate the product with a dongle, do the following:
With Avid Link open, click the Products tab. Plug in the dongle blasted to the current product and version. Avid Link detects the dongle with the corresponding dongle ID and Serial Number
To scan the dongle, click Dongle Info. Avid Link lists all the information available on the current dongle.
To update the dongle, select the license marked as "Dongle" in status column.
Click the orange Update button.
