I'm editing some archival footage shot years ago as MPEG-2 SD files in NTSC standard def and have created a 30i SD project to export SD-sized files as well. Some footage is 4:3 others are 16:9, but all are the same type of file with 720x480i Raster Dimensions. Quicktime Inspector also sees the footage as 720x480.
But when the files are Linked via AMA, and I check the bin's format columns, it shows an Image Size of 1440x1080 for the 4:3 and 1920x1080 for the 16:9. The Raster Dimension column shows them both as 720x480i. And the Pixel Aspect Ratio column shows the appropriate non-square dimensions for each.
The files appear as I would expect in the source and record monitors set to either 4:3 or 16:9. But why does Media Composer show the Image Size as an HD format? If nothing is broke I won't try to fix it, it just made me second guess that I'm missing something and just wondered if anyone understands why it does that? I'm on MC 8.10
Thanks,
Craig
