Someone out there make it clear to those of us challenged people, once they find out:
- Everyone is now on Ultimate, which includes 'options': Phrase Find, Script Sync & Symphony. But Ultimate is available only in 1, 2 or 3 year plans.
* Are the 1, 2 & 3 year plans IN ADDITION TO the "Support Plan" renewal?
Q: I own Media Composer—what happens to my license?
A: If you own a Media Composer perpetual license, you will not see a change to your product or pricing (though you will technically own the same feature set as the new Media Composer | Ultimate, the product name for the Media Composer perpetual license is not changing). You can continue to renew your 1-Year Software Updates + Support Plan (formerly known as an Annual Upgrade and Support Plan) for the foreseeable future. Alternatively, if you want to crossgrade to the Ultimate version, you can, however your license will become a subscription and cannot transition back to a perpetual license.
- Move to "Perpetual" – which is what we used to have (in that if we did not renew an annual support plan, we'd still get to keep our software's use, but be frozen at that version); but the options that are now included in "Ultimate" are not included.
* If options are not included, does this means that you can't purchase 'options' in "Perpetual?" unless they were already pre-purchased prior to this change? So if I had Phrase Find but not Script Sync and I did not renew a Support Plan and am in 'Perpetual' by default, the only way to get Script Sync would be to go back to "Ultimate?"
A: Software options for Media Composer—including PhraseFind, ScriptSync, and Symphony—will be available as subscriptions only. Whether you own a Media Composer perpetual license or subscribe to the new Media Composer software, you will be able to purchase subscriptions for any of these options to use with Media Composer. For Media Composer | Ultimate subscribers, these options will be included with your subscription. The Media Composer | NewsCutter Option is also included with a Media Composer | Ultimate subscription, or you can purchase a node-locked license for your Media Composer perpetual license.
Q: Will you continue to offer the dongle with Media Composer perpetual licenses? A: Yes, we will continue to offer the dongle with Media Composer perpetual licenses (with the added fee), and there are currently no plans to discontinue it.
Q: Can I still buy a Media Composer perpetual license or will I need to transition to a subscription?
A: Yes, we will continue to offer Media Composer perpetual licenses, as well as 1-Year Software Updates + Support Plan renewals (previously known as Annual Upgrade and Support Plan renewals). This software provides all of the same collaborative workflows of Media Composer | Ultimate, but does not include the software add-ons. If you'd rather convert your Media Composer perpetual license to a Media Composer | Ultimate subscription license, we offer options to do this too.
