Okay AVID!!! Can someone in the Avid Camp please clarify this topic. Does the Timeline Setting effect
1) Renders
2) File Exports
3) Digital Cuts
4) Any other functions I may be omitting other than the timeline viewing quality.
Clearly either differing versions behave differently and/or Mac/PC platforms may behave differently. This seems like it should be easily answered by Avid Tech.

We found in 8.5 x that the timeline settings DID affect the video output in digital cut… Not sure if this is fixed in a later versions.
So if the timeline is set to 8 bit but the Digital cut was set to 10 bi then the output was actually 8 bit.

It does not help if you switch mailing lists so people can't read what is said before.
To recap: In some situations (read, when you're on Mac on 'some' version) a mix down to a DNxHD 10 bits will result in 8 bits info inside a 10 bits codec when not in green 10 bits modus.
Feed that to your Avid tech.

Actually, I know the timeline view settings do not affect renders.
Set your timeline to the lowest quality. Now look at an unrendered effect and you will see it is aliased. Render it. Now it won't be aliased.
