[Avid-L2] BCC 8.0.1 Flicker Fix Tracking Bug?

I don't consider myself an advanced BCC user so I actually spent almost a half hour on the phone with Boris today troubleshooting an issue with the Tracker in BCC 8.0.1 in Flicker Fix effect.

Unlike other times I've used tracking in BCC the flicker fix has two tracking points.  The help file says that in the apply pulldown menu for tracking does the following:

Motion Tracker: This filter has two motion trackers, one each for controlling the two points that determine the shape of the mask. For detailed notes on use of the BCC Motion Tracker, please click on the help button at the top of the motion tracker parameter group. The trackers in this filter have some additional controls:
Apply has three choices.
Off: ignores the tracker data
Mask Points: applies each tracker to the corresponding mask points
Host Mask Offset: applies data from Tracker 1 to the host mask.

From this I assumed that I would only worry about tracker 1 and the mask would move according to the Tracker 1 data.  Unfortunately I see no effect when I choose apply to "Host Mask Offset."  If I choose mask points there is an effect but it skews the shape and the shape will constantly change depending on the relative tracking between Tracker 1 and Tracker 2.  I basically understand what's going on in Mask Points mode but with no effect choosing Host Mask Offset I can't use the effect the way I want.  I figured choosing Host Mask Offset would be similar to just using one tracking point in Avid paint effect.  It is my understanding that is how it's supposed to work but clearly it is not.

BCC support thought it might be a 4K issue but I duplicated the problem in an HD project so I don't think that's it.  I'm currently downloading BCC 8.2 of Avid download in the hope that perhaps that later version fixed this behavior.

In the mean time has anyone successfully used BCC 8 flicker fix with tracking using the Host Mask Offset?  I don't do much tracking in BCC but the times I have it was effects that had only one tracker point available so this is new to me.
