Does anyone remember the Avid Users Group meetings back in the early-mid nineties? Those were a big deal and 100's of editors would show up for 4 day meetings in places like Phoenix, Dallas, San Diego, Orlando, Tampa, and North Conway (NH). In those days Avid was soaring, was the darling of Wall Street, and as a group who met once a year en masse, we editors felt a swell of pride to be part of the Avid family. We really got to know the Avid team from the president of the company on down to the tech support guys who would actually answer the phone when you called Avid. This year I'm celebrating my 25th year as an Avid editor. And, by the way, for 20 years before that I was a Steenbeck editor.
