[Avid-L2] BWF and ALE, why?

Guys (and Gall),

Working on a util to create BWF files from multiple recorders into one large Poly BWF.
Not sure why, but the sound guys seem to want it.

Now, these guys also want an ALE next to the sound report.
I don't get it. What advantage does an ALE have over normal BWF import?
As far as I can tell, all metadata from a BWF gets into AVID on normal input.
(Ok, perhaps if it was a Cantar and you want to know what the weather was like, it may not import, but hey….)

What am I missing here?

Speaking of sound reports, what would you like to see? And in what format?
CSV? PDF? something else?
