That camera can shoot both formats. Its not AVC-S. That still does not work in Avid.

Recently there were a couple of FS 7 related threads one mentioned the DATA track causing issue. Today we got one card out of several from a Sony FS-7 that didn't work with ama linking in Avid 6.5.x. It wouldn't play in Resolve lite 9.0, I know it's old but it's what's on this system right now. Media info showed the problem clips as AVC with a variable bit rate mode. The working cards show up as XD Cam format but this one card is AVC. I was thinking it might be that AVC-S consumer format that I've heard still doesn't ama into Avid, is that still true?At any rate when I ama linked to the folder on my Avid 8.5.2 system it worked . The PDZK-MA2 Video Format column lists the clips as XAVC Long Gop HD 50Mb/s and the PDZK-MA2 CFPS shows 59.94. The clips fps is 23.976 so what is the PDZK-MA2 CFPS showing? Is it just confused? The video column lists "unsupported (HD1080P) yet it plays and transcodes. Is this footage possibly AVC-S media I've read about? If so I guess this means the Avid ama plugin, which I installed a while back now handles AVC-S. The media also works in premiere 2015. So much for getting out early on a Friday night. Oh well I guess I learned something but I'm just not sure what I learned. Given all the other cards worked without issue and showed up as XDCam 422 why did this one card come in as a completely different format? It's not some special over cranked material. I guess it was just a different day shooting and nobody bothered to match all the other days of shooting? Or maybe a different crew and different FS7. Doesn't anybody check this Crap in the field. Oh wait how would we save it in post if they didn't give us this crap. ;-(John Moore Barking Trout Productions Studio City, CA bigfish@pacbell.net
