[Avid-L2] Audio Channel Re-assignment for Group Clips

I'm working on multicam project with four cameras and eight ISO audio (mic) channels. The audio is distributed so that the first two channels of each camera hold two mics (4 cams x 2 mics each = 8 channels total). All were recorded at XDCAM50.

What is the best method for grouping these clips and keeping the audio properly assigned and organized cleanly and efficiently?

I know it's possible to group the clips using the standard procedure, and then duplicate and adjust the track order within the timeline. I also know it's possible to use AutoSync to make subclips with the proper audio assignments, but I'm dealing with thousands of clips, so this method won't be efficient in my circumstance.

To posit a possible solution, does a method exist to re-assign the audio channels of the clips as a batch process before I even group them? Basically automating the AutoSync process mentioned above.

Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions.
