I purchased my NitrisDX in 2012 but never new the AVC board was anything but an option. Is that something that appears in the Hardware Tab to check?

That is a highly complex format that needs a lot of resources to play back smoothly. Resources Avid isn't designed to utilize, like Cuda acceleration via an Nvidia graphics card, and tons of RAM. Even with apps that do utilize those, like Premiere Pro and Resolve, playback might still skip. It takes a lot to decode that on the flySo transcode the footage in Avid. Always best.

Helping a customer who is having trouble playing back AVCHD 100 files shot on a Panasonic Pro camera. It's my first exposure to the system but supposedly it used to work fine and now doesn't.
System specs: 3-4 year old HP z420, Win 7, 16GB RAM, Media Composer 7.0.6, G-Tech SAS connected storage (about 140 MB/sec) and an AJA Kona LHi
What I know:
- there is a 942-memory training error that come up during boot, but that has supposedly been there for a while, trying to swap out half the RAM (two pairs of two different 4GB HP revs)
- when playing the AVCHD 100 footage in a sequence the video will stutter and freeze, the audio will stutter and repeat pieces short phrases
- watching the system resources it uses about 8GB of RAM but will go all the way up 100% of CPU
- transcode the footage to DNxHD 115 and it plays fine
- did the usual new project/user/bin/sequence check
When schedules allow I will reload the OS and start from scratch. But any ideas/suggestions in the meantime are appreciated.
Thanx,
