I didn't find anything in the New Blue interface that launches from Avid that smacks of a render or quality setting. I will look further tomorrow.
I did find that I can't go to the clip menu and and select new title like I'm use to doing. When I try to crate a new title while in 4096x2160 23.976 project I get an error message saying I need to install new blue titler. Well I have it installed as I can promote title tool titles to New Blue then open the New Blur interface from the effects window. So why when I click new title under the clip menu like I've always done with title tool it now acts like I don't have New Blue installed. This is beyond frustrating.
I did see a fair amount of aliasing or stair stepping on W's and V's and to a less noticeable extent on other characters. I compared my current credits to the previous 4K show I did and they are identical in quality, or lack of quality if I believe QC.
I then exported a still of a credit page, simple white over black credits. I took that into photoshop and tried to type the same text in the same font and make it look similar. I then brought the combined title jpeg saved in Photoshop back into Avid with a traditional import. The text that was created in Photoshop didn't look any different as far as stair stepping/ aliasing than the new blue title so they all seem a bit yucky.
I started to wonder if I somehow had low quality fonts, like they were bit maps instead of vector fonts or whatever the proper font speak is. With this in mind a made a new photoshop doc and created white text of a similar size over black using common fonts like Impact, Courier, Times, Helvetica and Gil Sans. I brought that jpeg into Avid and still the fonts show a fair amount of stair stepping.
I don't do much work in photoshop other than stills clean up so there may be something basic I'm missing here. I believe the jpegs a made for testing defaulted to 8 bit mode. Could that really be making the characters look bad?
I finally took my original title HD sequence from offline and switched the project back to HD and did the recreate in HD then switch back to True 4K and those titles looked virtually the same as the New Blue Promoted titles on my HD monitoring infrastructure. Could the NitrisDX down convert of the 4K timeline be adding some bad artifacts?
Given the same quality titles passed QC without a mention on the last show I'm wondering if there really is an issue to be concerned with. In the past I've had certain cable networks that have delivery specs in HD that allowed for credits to be done in Symphony or in After Effects but when we did the in Symphony they rejected them and made us remake them in AE. Avid's softness on titles was to avoid specular excrusions that could cause illegal levels but the network insisted on the crisper AE credits contradicting their own delivery specs. I'm wondering if something similar is happening in this QC.
Just add this to the list of things I don't have time or energy to trouble shoot. I'm so glad Avid decided to dump title tool for executive bonuses. It's really making my life so pleasent.

In my titler pro 4, under the settings menu, there's a final render quality setting and the best choice would be "BEST". I believe the 2.0 has a setting menu you might want to check. I would just try to recreate it in the than HD format. Hope this helped.
Best regards,

Got a 4K QC that said my titles were low res. The titles came from the offline title tool titles which I promoted to New Blue Title 2.0. As I an very new to this oh so powerful but complete pain in the ass tool can someone tell me if there is a quality setting. I also don't quite understand why sometimes when I command Q out of the New Blue interface there is a render progress bar and sometimes there is not? Given I promoted title tool to New Blue while in a True 4K project how could they be low res?
