I get the RAM issue sorted. You may be suffering a reduction in RAM access speed and that maybe compounding the issue.
The 400 series machines have an odd RAM config.
I would say that HP spec allows for more RAM permutations than Avid supports and I once did detailed performance testing to confirm the HP RAM config worked as well as the Avid supported config. BYMMV
