Some of you kindly responded, and we have our team event coming up next weekend so I was hoping for some responses that I can integrate into the presentation. If anyone is still interested in answering the questions below, I'd much appreciate it!

Our main issue here is that while there are opportunities for journalists to edit their own stuff, the opposite is far less common. We don't have a clear path of advancement for editors, and our team is a very diverse group in terms of age/technical knowledge/artistic know-how. We're training editors to do camera work as well, and hopefully we'll have editors who can produce their own short programs soon enough. At the same time we're training journalists on full versions of avid so they can log and edit their own stuff, but imho, something like media central UX is a far more logical tool than a full featured avid, as we have plenty of journalists who's general computer knowledge is abysmal.
Anyhow, here are the questions that I'd love to hear some opinions on. As promised, in a few weeks, I'll compile them all together, send them to the list, and I think the resulting document could result in something pretty useful for all concerned.
Questions:
How do you see the future of editing for television editors? Do you find that journalists do more and more of their own editing?
What, if anything, is your department doing to prepare editors for the changes ahead?
How is morale among editors in your team?
Has the job description for an editor at your company changed over the past decade? How so?
Do you have a specific strategy for editing for online content? Does it differ from TV editing?
Do you have clear development/advancement opportunities for Editors?
