Hi Tim,
I have the Avid MC with symphony subscription. The Application Manager will notify you if there are updates available. You have to choose to upgrade.
Hope this helps,

Subject: [Avid-L2] Renting the software
One maxim that has served me well in Avid-land is, "If it ain't broke,
don't fix it." We have a simple production and air in smaller, local
markets. Well, our Adrenalines are beginning to break... time to move
into the current decade.
Under the rental system, are software upgrades forced? In other words,
if I get, say, 8.6 working reliably, can I just keep paying the rental
fee for the next 2 years, but keep using reliable 8.6 without being
forced to upgrade to 8.7, 8.8, (and a new OS) etc. until we want to?
TIA
Tim Selander
