It pains me to even have to ask about this "scope" but here goes. The Mac OS requirement is OS 10.10 according to the specs. This seems to be a self contained unit not like the Ultrascope requiring a computer and video card. The spec sheet lists Ultra HD which I assume means 3840x2160 a.k.a. quad HD. It lists usb 2.0 for software updates and ethernet for configuration. I'm assuming the OS 10.10 requirement is based on the configuration requirement. I'm curious why usb 2.0 is used for software updates. If you have an ethernet connection wouldn't it make sense to feed an update through that? Perhaps you put a usb flash drive with the update software and then use the ethernet configuration software to initiate the update. Or is there something about booting the device to a flash drive or some sort of usb 2.0 connectable device for software updates?
Is anyone running one of these. It specs to 4K like I previously mentioned but does that mean it would also handle 4096x2160? which is really quad 2K IIRC?
It would seem that I would have to run the configuration software in the background to facilitate changing display patterns as the two up display is rather limited now that I'm use to a quad Tektronix display.
I will admit to being a bit of scope snob in that I'm so comfortable with Tektronix displays I dislike using other products. I know others have their preferences too but over the years with all the great free Tektronix seminars I've attended I feel a certain loyalty to their products plus I really like the offset double diamond display. It is disheartening that I am told we only have $1,000 dollars in the budget for a scope so they come up with this duo unit. I know it works but I'm sure it lacks the refinement I've come to utilize over the year. It seems to be basically a two up Ultra Scope and I know it's better than nothing but we seem to be in a world where only the bottom line counts and the quality suffers as a result. Gone are the days when the operators needs are even factored into design plans and the installation companies are more about satisfying the customers penny pinching needs than proper design and equipment choice. Oh well the race to the bottom may just be a trial sport in the upcomming Olympics.
