Re: [Avid-L2] Arri Alexa and or Amira "Upscaling" for True 4K not acceptable for Netflix?

 

I know Netflix insists on 4K, but this is silly. Those guys truly are idiots if that's their official position. I presume that means they won't accept any major blockbuster film shot with ALEXAs, like "Skyfall", "Birdman", etc. 


ALEXA 65mm camera would be true 4K, but these are rental-only. So they'd rather have something shot with a Sony FS7 to a highly compressed codec, rather than a better camera like an ALEXA with some slight in-camera up-conversion - generally recorded to high-quality ProRes or ARRIRAW.
