[Avid-L2] Re: Resolve update from Editor's Lounge event

"FCPX always ripples."

Not true.  The P-key modifier when trimming either side creates a gap.

" If you delete a clip a gap is left (Lift) — this not true of FCPX."

Again not true.  Shift-Delete in X performs the "lift" function.

"BM makes a big deal that Resolve was designed for "professional" graders and editors, by which they mean the folks in Hollywood."

This is my favorite line.  OK, everyone outside of Hollywood, you guys/gals are amateurs!  ;-)  See how well that marketing plan has done for Avid? I would bet that the BMD marketing team would cringe to hear that their product is aiming solely to the professional in Hollywood.

"So the fact its NLE will be familiar to MC editors makes perfect sense"

Agreed.  But it is also very familiar to the X editor, once you get past those pesky "tracks".  ;-)

If you look at the basic designs of Resolve and X, there are absolute similarities.  As well as things like an Inspector, timeline index, compound clips, etc.  But you are right.  Under the skin, Resolve is a familiar track based editor where X is not.
