In my limited tests with 8.3.1 and backgound rendering I found that partial renders were problematic when rerendered using background render. IIRC if I had a section rendering for the first time things worked without hiccups. I believe I was even able to quit avid and the render continued with the background service, I assume just like the dynamic media folder do. Now can anyone confirm this is true and if so could I even open up another project in Avid while the background render continues?
I see while staying in the current background rendering project as it progresses the various effects along the timeline show to be rendered. If quit out of Avid will the sequence continue to get the memo so to speak about the rendered files. In my past tests I saw that upon initialing a background transcode Avid will populate the bin first with the clips to be before they are actually processed. I'm pretty sure when I tested a similar thing happened with background rendering and if I displayed rendered effects in the bin with the sequence being rendered I would it initially populate with the render clips to be. In that case I would think Avid would continue to track the renders even if I quit our or open another project.
Trying to maximize my time while waiting for what appears to be at least an 8 hour render process.
