Getting back on topic, can you give some examples of what features on your list have been added to Resolve? As an Avid editor, what might I be pleasantly surprised at?
(Sorry to interrupt the trip down memory lane...I started at the tail end of linear and have little interest in remembering any of it)

We had a Datatron at UCLA with BVU-200s. Neon small tubes for the time code display, way before LED etc... We later replaced with Convergence 103 but it was several years later that they finally added the AB rolll option which IIRC was a strange beast in that initially they discribed A B roll as a way to do split edits of some sort and it didn't help there was no switcher in the bay which made dissolves a fantasy in the early 80's.
