Yes the power and flexibility of today's systems are far superior but I do miss having dedicated control panels. I've always wanted a nice Joy Stick controller interface to control 3D warp or any effects for that matter. A typical Grass Valley switcher panel doesn't really mimic an Avid timeline but an ADO, Abekas, Kscope panel that talked to Avid for 3D warp would be fun to play with. Heck I might even swoop in a shot or see if the old schwip schwap parameters would still make whacky warps. Then I'd just trim in minus R duration before hitting ctrl rec. Make it Red Baby!!!

It saddens me to ask this question but what are the major linear edit controllers left today. Axial use to be one of the few that worked in the 24 frame world. I know editware has fast track but it seems to be more of a server controller although I think it also does machine switcher etc... control and it has a Record button. There must be some needs for those things that go quicker tape to tape when time is of the essence.
Now I'm going to go cry in the corner missing my 300 and 200 GVG switchers.
