If you are working full res in 8.5 you can link (AMA) then transcode to DNX HR leaving the footage at its original 5K size within a 1080 project.  Frame Flex will default to scaling it to fit a 1080 raster, but you can change that in source settings or in the timeline to push in as needed.   Easy.

Do a test of a few clips to see if your system is capable of playing 5k material within a 1080 project using DNXHR SQ or HQ.   If not, you may want to transcode to 4K or UHD, which will still give you plenty of resolution to fake a second interview camera.

> We just shot a doc in 5K with the Epic. For the offline we transcoded to HD, and used Resize to punch in for close-ups. Once we're locked, we're then going to do a full conform to create our 2K master, as this is a feature doc. It's during the conform that we'll use the original 5K footage when making the resizes for the close-ups, and we won't have lost a pixel. Beauty ensues.
