Oh but if you are ever on Jeopardy and the final round is on Linear editing and the answer is Datatron you will know it was the editor with neon light segments and you will walk home the big winner!!! It is Throwback Thursday isn't it? Or maybe the day of the Dinosaur?

On topic I hope to find out some of those answers Friday night if I'm not stuck at work. I'll be glad to share some of the tid bits if the short term memory loss isn't to great. ;-)

We had a Datatron at UCLA with BVU-200s. Neon small tubes for the time code display, way before LED etc... We later replaced with Convergence 103 but it was several years later that they finally added the AB rolll option which IIRC was a strange beast in that initially they discribed A B roll as a way to do split edits of some sort and it didn't help there was no switcher in the bay which made dissolves a fantasy in the early 80's.
