What format/codec are the original master clips?

Subject: [Avid-L2] Weird Subclip consolidate error message MC 8.5.1
I've just been consolidating (not transcoding) subclips in MC8.5.1 (Mac), with 'Delete Original Media Files' selected. Even though I am consolidating I see a New (to me) alert about transcoding (I hope the image is attached). Choosing 'Create New Master Clips' gives the result I want but surely we should not see this message? With Best Wishes, Roger Shufflebottom +44 7973 543 660
