Did a divide and conquer on my plugins and found that MC 8.5 seems to be incompatible with my version of Magic Bullet Looks (it's not the latest one, though).
Without that, it opens normally. So this leaves me with the question of whether I have successfully revived the canary (even though it might be missing a limb) or whether it's a zombie canary now. Only time will tell, I guess.
