Doesn't work for me. Always takes the video clip name, even when audio is on top. Maybe in some other view other than the standard text view of the bin?

Sync clips are named after the top clip in the bin, or at least they used to when I last took care of autosync... if You arrange the clips in the bin in such a way that the audio clips show up on top of the video clips and then autosync, the resulting sync clips will show up with the desired name.
