It can be done in Title Tool, but the formatting of double columns is not going to transfer.
Basically, you can transfer anything that pastes into a single text object in Title Tool.
But to do two columns on something you'll need to copy and paste various PARTS of the text doc into "boxes" or "text containers" in Title Tool. There's no way that the whole document just comes over.
I've done a bunch of credit rolls in Title Tool… it's not the prettiest way to do it. Just like with a static title page, you can add multiple text boxes. Each of those text boxes can be filled with text by copying and pasting. Then you can use the Arrange tools to line up the text boxes and have them justify in various ways or arrange so that they're lined up. But it WILL take some work.
If you have the money to spend, you would save a lot of trouble using this:
A collaborative credit crawl service that promises no funky jittering and the ability for someone else (not you) to deal with the crap of approvals and making it look good. All versioning is done by them, so there are no hassles with constant changes up to on-line.
Really, the answer with AE is not as bad as you think IF you do it correctly. The correct way to make the process easy to deal with in off-line and on-line and where you do NOT need to be an AE expert is to create the entire crawl in Illustrator as one gigantic long document that has the same width as your output - say 1080. Any changes in text are done in the Illustrator document. Then all you have to do in AE is import the Illustrator doc and put a keyframe at the top and another at the bottom. (Slightly over simplifying, but that's basically it.)
Steve
I have to copy and paste a massive credit roll into the title tool. But when I do, the format is wiped out and all over the place. PM created a two column list but when pasted it only comes in single column and when I select preview to see hi quality, it goes to no column.
So what is the format to use when creating credits that will transfer to the title tool? I tried PDF and did not work, I don't have word on my edit system so the word doc becomes a text doc. I have not had to do a credit roll in 10 years so not sure what the best method is and please don't say AE. I know its an option but constant changes up to online will be a nightmare.
thanks
