Re: [Avid-L2] Premiere and Media Composer

Well that's just wrong after all this time.  I'm curious if now that Avid has put their name on the BM box for 4K output if they will fix this.  It's just starting the sequence a frame earlier so the 1 frame buffer isn't still holding the black frame.  If Avid is going to back this new hardware they still need to work with tape outputs to SR decks etc...

I'd bet the same black frame would happen if I was controlling a Cinedeck, which is the wave of the future I hope, it's not enough to act like just because tape is less prevalent it's a non issue for the user base.  Hello Avid let's fix this and while you are at it bring Universal mastering capability to the DNxIO so I can really switch from the NitrisDX without looking back.  Oh and fix universal mastering for HD like it worked in SD please, stop making me figure out the A and D frames.

nope - digital cut is still hit and miss(8-9 hits out of 10), that's why we still keep a NitrisDX system around - which is frame accurate 10 out of 10.
Exactly same golden combo(OSX10.9.5/MC8.3.0) but no BMD HW.

The amount of outputs to tape is constantly dropping, so the impact is under control.

You're gonna go first right Terry.  I don't have enough chickens to sacrifice so I'm waiting too.  With Thanksgiving coming would a Turkey sacrifice work?

I was never able to resolve my digital cut black frame at the beginning of every insert edit.  Mr. Bogdan gave me some suggestions about modifying frame offset parameters in the deck template but that didn't seem to work.  I even tried to change the parameters when using my NitrisDX and didn't see any change in it's behavior on digital cuts.  Of course the NitrisDX was performing proper digital cuts while my BM SDI on the same computer added a frame of black.  I am convinced it's a problem just like happens in FCP7 with kona cards using the Sony Preset A would give a frame of black but using Sony Preset B worked correctly and had the offset parameter that rolled the sequence a frame early set to -1 IIRC.  Why I couldn't get that to work with the BM SDI is beyond me so far.  I was contacted by someone from Avid who told me I was running an outdated version of the BM Video Desktop software.  I haven't attempted to update that as the last time I tried it didn't work at all so I got spooked and rolled back to a V. 9 Video Desktop BM driver.

Mr. Bogdan did you ever resolve the digital cut issue on your Avids with BM hardware?
