Re: [Avid-L2] Anybody have the Symphony CC documentation?

Here's all of the information in the Symphony CC Guide that I do no have committed to memory.

Update Correction

Edit new material into a previously color corrected sequence. Click the Color Correction Mode button.  Right-click in the CC tool and select Update Correction. A dialog box opens. Select the relationships you want to use in updating the corrections. Check the "Create New Sequence" box if you want to create a new sequence with these corrections. This is a smart idea.

Slightly different that this is Merge Color Corrected Sequences

Make a copy of your sequence, or even two. Save the original. Make a duplicate to color correct and continue editing on the other duplicate.

Continue working on the two versions of the sequence separately.

To merge the revised edit with the revised color correction you must be in Source/Record editing mode. Drag the edit copy into the Source Window and the latest color correction copy into the Record Window.  The MERGED copy will be in the Record Window.

Go into Color Correction Mode. Right Click on the CC Tool and choose Merge Correction. A dialog box appears. Select the relationships you want to include in the merge.  You can check the Create New Sequence box if you want to create a new sequence instead of altering the sequence that is in the Record window.

Flattening Color Corrected sequences

BE SAFE. When you start using segment color correcting relationships, they CAN be dangerous because the relationships go in BOTH directions. If you make a relationship and later in the sequence you decide to alter the color correction to that clip that has been graded because of the relationship, the altered grade will apply BACKWARDS to the original clip unless that clip has the color correction flattened or the relationship broken.

To flatten an entire sequence, in CC mode, right-click the CC Tool and choose Flatten Correction. A dialog box opens.  Select the relationships. Check the Create New Sequence if you want a new sequence. Click OK. All segments will change to Segment only.

You can also remove all or most of the color corrections on a sequence by going into Color Correction Mode and right-clicking on the CC Tool and choosing Remove Correction. A dialog box appears. Choose the segments you want to remove. Check Create New Sequence if you want. Choose OK.

Avid's "Knowledge Base" is completely unsearchable and useless.

It should be called "The Hidden Knowledge Base of Things We Refuse to Share."

Seriously. All I want is the darn Symphony CC Guide.

More specifically, I want to get the section about how to update sequences with modified color corrections. If one person continues to edit while another begins to grade, there is way to have that updated editing information link to the original color corrections. I only do it once in a blue moon, so I haven't memorized it.

I know I have one around some place, but this is the thing Avid should WANT to circulate. WHY WHY WHY is their search so COMPLETELY AWFUL?

Each iteration of their web design takes search to new levels of horrible.

Hiring a web company do web design out of their basement may be a problem.
