We are a creative post-production facility located in Chicago. We primarily work in short form medium of commercials. Candidate would be working with a creative group of about 50 individuals and manage day to day systems for one location, but a member of a team that manages multiple locations.
We are seeking an individual who will show a sense of urgency and an ability to work within a fast paced environment. The Post Production Systems Administrator will have the technical knowledge and experience to be 'hands-on' and 'think out of the box' when problem solving. It is key that this person be proactive, responsive, and get things done quickly.
Overview of environment: mac, pc, linux, offline, visual efx, and online.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Deploy, maintain, and update related systems, which can include; storage, renderfarms, LTO tape library, and servers to mention some, but not all, resources.
• Ensure all Mac, Windows, and Linux workstations, farm, and servers are up to date with OS, patches, and software.
• Installation and troubleshooting of VFX, Online, and Non-Linear applications, which can include: Flame, Adobe, Nuke, Maya, C4D, Vray, Resolve, Avid, Final Cut, and Premiere.
• Respond to user requests and issues related to media management, file-based workflow, delivery or system issues.
• Implement processes and resources to enhance Artists/Client/Production workflow.
• Documentation of infrastructure, software, and processes.
• Testing of new technologies for possible future integration.
• Help Desk support of printers, telephones, and security, along with, hvac.
• Role includes 24x7 hour support. Some systems maintenance will happen off hours requiring a flexibility schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Solid working knowledge of Mac OS, Linux, Windows, Python, DPX, Tiff, OpenEXR, HDR, RAW, Quicktime, DNxHD, H.264.
• Knowledge of AD, SMTP, DHCP, NFS, DNS
• Experience with building and troubleshooting high availability computing systems and renderfarms.
• VFX support experience: Maya, Autodesk, Adobe, DaVinci Resolve, Nuke, and Deadline Queue Manager.
• Ability to effectively communicate with non-technical people face to face or via email.
• Ability to quickly learn and implement new technology.
