If you move the bin into a new project, does it open?

I've seen issue when bin files don't have the .avb extension. Older Avids on Macs didn't add the .avb. Strange thing is you can open the bin once but after it closes it disappears from the project window. Adding the .avb suffix brings it back. That doesn't sound like what you are experiencing but just in case.
Also I've seen trashing the .avs folder in a project cure some very strange behavior. May be worth a try.

Ive deleted all precomputes and rebuilt media data bases but after reopening project I still get it. What else could be causing this?
