Re: [Avid-L2] unable to open bins

Sometimes if you already have a bin open that is a copy of the bin you are trying to open — even if you changed the name of the second bin — sometimes MC will see it as still being the "same", and therefore not open the new one.

For example, I've sent bins to people working remotely. They do their work then send the same bin back to me, but with their revised sequence inside. If I have that original bin open in the project, and then try to open the one I've newly received back, again, even if renamed, MC won't allow both to be open at the same time.

Also, sometimes I've received bins from systems overseas that I know aren't licensed and are, in fact, hacks, and sometimes bins from those won't behave nicely.

Obviously, this may not parallel your experience.

Im suddenly having this problem on a project. Its coming up often. I can't open certain bins. I get "unable to open file. "(bin name)"

Ive deleted all precomputes and rebuilt media data bases but after reopening project I still get it. What else could be causing this?

thanks
