Re: [Avid-L2] Re: Terry Curren's brother from another mother

It turned out they had both a 4K and a regular HD monitor in QC.  They commented they saw the "dead pixels" on both and I speculated that maybe they were catching them on the 4K monitor first.  These were so small and insignificant that I had to have them send screen grabs and even with that I had to bring in my Sony OLED and the Post Super sort of spotted them sitting 12 to 18 inches from the screen.  Our delivery was ProResHQ 422 which they accepted and is one of their standards.  That's why I speculate they have different delivery tiers depending on the project.

Ultimately the bigger issue was they were using FCP 7 and it was not playing back the beginning audio that everything else I had played fine.  Ultimately we fixed the pixels but ignored their audio rejection because when we sent it to the network it played fine for them.

I was able to recreate the missing audio playback in FCP 7 on my system.  Later the QC house claimed the file didn't work in Clipster, Amberfin and Adobe Premiere.  Someone on the list is checking the Clipster compatibility for me and I tested the file in Adobe Premiere and it was fine.  I don't have access to Amberfin but I will be curious if the file will work in Clipster.  Given the QC house said it didn't work in Premiere but it does for me I am very skeptical of their statements.

But John. Weren't you complaining they were doing 4K QC??  How did that get resolved in the end?

I've delivered regular good ole HD to Netflix so it's not always their requirement.  I would assume it's for the higher end products on Netflix.

Out of curiosity, how many networks and film distributors are actually requiring or even requesting 4K deliverables? We know of the few, like Netflix and Amazon, but are there others?
