I am exhuming this dead horse in the hopes someone still has the will to beat it a little more.
I am trying to output to post to Vimeo and possibly elsewhere. I have tried exporting a Same As Source QT Reference and converting it to both Apple ProRes and H.264 using MPEG Streamclip and Adobe Media Encoder. I've mixed down within Avid to ProRes, exported that SAS QT and converted that to H.264. I've exported directly to Apple ProRes from Avid. I've done all these things with my Avid Format Color Space set to RGB and with my Color Space set to YCbCr and with export settings set to one of those and then the other. I would have tried both color spaces in my converters, but I can't find how to switch those in MPEG Streamclip nor Adobe Media Encoder.
In all cases, when I AMA back into Avid to check, the image matches the original almost exactly. But regardless of whether I play back in QT Pro 7, QT X, MPEG Streamclip, Media Encoder or Nice Player, it always appears darker.
I posted to this forum on this topic in June of 2013, but the answer I got then no longer seems to apply. What I worked out then with the endless and patient help of so many here, was to export SAS then convert to Apple ProRes and then convert to whatever I was hoping for. That is just not working now.
I appreciate I've been at this far too long to still not get this, but I also know that, at least two years ago, there didn't seem to be an easy answer.
I am running MC 7.0.4 on OS 10.10.3.
I am already forever in this forum's debt, but I will be so twofold if someone can guide me.
