To be clear...Media Composer has a simpler color correction module than with the Symphony option...
1) No relational color correction, correction has to be applied to each segment on your timeline separately as an effect.
2) No secondary correction tab (though you can use the "Spot Color" effect to get a simpler version of secondaires.)
3) Several of the tabs available in Symphony are missing in standard Media Composer (I believe Channels and Levels).
There are however, several other options available to color correct via plugins which must be purchased. A popular one is Baselight, and there are additional controls that are part of BCC and Sapphire. Magic Bullet is also popular for creating special "film looks".
