Why yes greg I see this often when I have a project running for a bit. The projects that do this usually have ama linked ex or other and other stuff in it. The problem is compounded if you have something like a web browser or photoshop open too. You on mac right? What happens is MC starts swapping all kinds of sh*T to disk and then you get beach balls for 10-20 sec after doing anything. MC seems to have a terrible memory management system mostly because it I think doesn't use the bad a$$ gpu's we put in there but cpu. If I see this I save and reboot and things are back to acceptable responsiveness.

I run some really complex programs that use the gpu exclusively and heavily without crippling the system allowing you to run other stuff at the same time.

Not sure if this helps but maybe reboot when you see this start to happen and check it..

I'm working on a project that was started in another system.

There are AMAs, imports, etc. Just trying to get the first offline mix ready.

The project hangs periodically - for no apparent reason. However when I open the activity monitor, I've noticed there are multiple instances of 'Quicktime OP Server' running -and they seem to start and stop.

Is something in media composer attempting to invoke some quicktime function? Anyone seen this before.

A bit frustrating as I'm trying to work fast, and keep loosing a lot of edits, by having to roll back to the nearest auto save.
