Ah! Thanks Dan, that's got it. It's a matter of when you add the
modifiers. If I use ctrl, alt and shift together and then drag a clip it
duplicates it locked to vertical. I've also discovered that if I drag a
title over to a mark using ctrl (cmd on Mac I assume I'm PC) then switch
from ctrl to alt quickly it duplicates instead of moving so I can
snap-duplicate - just in two separate voodoo presses.
Thanks for everyone's input - the keyboard track move would be useful
but I'm pretty quick with the mouse and as I've selected the clip with
it anyway, it's no trouble to whip it up a track or two in the same
move. My preferred working style is right hand on mouse (using two
buttons plus wheel which clicks for a third button) with left hand on
the left side of the keyboard where I can reach modifiers, in/out,
lift/extract, copy to clipboard, overwrite etc very easily. I go to full
keyboard operation if I'm JKLing but I find switching my right hand
between mouse and keyboard a lot keeps it moving and avoids RSI. I can't
use a tablet and pen for more than about 10 minutes without getting The
Claw.
