Whoa,
Wondering if any of you have found workarounds for or know if Avid is working on a near-term solution for reading older AudioSuite effects in newer versions of Media Composer.
My workplace is still on v7.0.x. We'll eventually have to make the upgrade jump but we just hit the (for us) huge problem of the fact that old AudioSuite Effects don't translate into v8.x.
This is somewhat problematic for our current projects. But it's hugely problematic for our archived projects -- which we definitely resurrect from time to time.
In case you aren't aware, there are a bunch of pre-v.8 AudioSuite effects which when opened on a post v.8.x system fail to read at all. The effect won't play or render in. And what happens when you open the Effect Dialog window is that you get a blank dialog box with no indication of the parameters one had initially set.
I'm trying to contain my incredulity at Avid's feature shortsightedness while I still hold out hopes for a solution.
Oh, and it's my understanding that all of these "old" effects are problematic:
